it is not possible to restart these programs without rebooting the computer (alhtough the apps crash after a few minutes of rebooting so the cycle continues. it is not possible to quit these processes - they either reappear instantly - or give a message that is is not possible to end the process

i went to task manger to quit the program but found that many processes had 2 to 5 copies running (each using 200,000K of memory or more) programs (firefox, excel, outlook, photoshop, etc) have been freezing after about 5 minutes of use
